Sign Standards
Purpose of Standards
Signs convey many messages, such as business and residence information, safety notices and historic context, and function as wayfinding, visual interest, artistic expression and historical reminders. Visual distinctiveness contributes to placemaking for locals and tourists alike. As Driftwood continues to grow, it is imperative that the rural character that Driftwood is known for continues to be maintained and enhanced. Any new signs should be designed in a manner that is in tune with the local vernacular.
Updated "best practices" design guidelines for sign size, materials, lighting and placement and visual harmony, particularly in specialized districts such as "Downtown Driftwood", are currently being developed.
